Zoom is an online video and audio conferencing tool that’s commonly used at UTS to facilitate online classes, conversations and collaboration with students and staff in different locations.
The university has now upgraded to the Zoom EDU Enterprise licensing model, giving staff and students enhanced access to Zoom features. These upgraded licences have more features than a free Zoom account, so it’s important to log in via the UTS Zoom portal to ensure you have full access and a seamless Zoom experience.
Higher attendee limits
Staff can now host Zoom meetings with up to 500 participants and webinars for up to 500 attendees. There is no longer a need to request additional webinar licences through ServiceConnect.
Students can host Zoom meetings with up to 300 participants and continue to use Zoom through Canvas or the UTS Zoom portal.
Still need more?
If a webinar is expected to exceed 500 attendees, staff should continue to submit a ServiceConnect request to the Audio Visual Service team, who will allocate a higher licence based on availability. More information on requesting a Zoom webinar license can be found on the Requesting a Webinar License page.
Extra support
This change makes it easier for staff to schedule large online sessions and webinars without any extra setup or licence requests. If you are looking for more information and updated guidance on using Zoom for teaching, visit the resource collection on Education Express.
If you are having technical difficulties with your Zoom application, please contact the IT Support Centre or submit a request for help using ServiceConnect.
