Enhancing Teaching@UTS is a short professional learning program for all UTS academics. It aims to support you in developing the understanding, capability and confidence to teach subjects drawing on good practice principles aligned to the UTS distinctive approach. As well as encouraging innovative teaching with a strong focus on student learning and the student experience, the program also aims to connect you with resources and community across disciplines, as well as the Education Portfolio, to promote ongoing support and collaboration.

What can you expect from this program?

In this Program, you will:

  • Reflect on the opportunities and challenges within your teaching context and identify areas of inquiry that interest you.
  • Consider the alignment between your teaching practice, the key elements of effective and inclusive teaching, and the UTS distinctive approach.
  • Apply design principles to the development and teaching of your subjects to enhance student learning.
  • Enhance your feedback and assessment strategies to promote student success.
  • Explore tools and methods to engage students using technology.
  • Develop strategies for evaluating and reflecting on your practice.

How can you engage?

In 2026, this program consists of a 5-week online program consisting of five weekly 1.5-hour online workshops with some pre- and post-work that you will access via the Program’s Canvas site. You will receive a Certificate of Completion for the Program if you engage in the majority of online workshops and complete the optional assessment – a 500-word Action Plan.

The online workshops in this program are:

  1. You, Your Context, Your Learners – 6 March, 12:30 – 2:00pm
  2. Designing for Learning – 13 March, 12:30 – 2:00pm
  3. Engaging Students Using Technology – 20 March, 12:30 – 2:00pm
  4. Feedback and Assessment – 27 March, 12:30 – 2:00pm
  5. Reflective Practice and Next Steps – 2 April, 12.30 – 2.00pm

Certificate of Completion

To receive your Certificate of Completion for this Program, you will be asked to submit a 500-word Action Plan applying aspects of what you have learnt in the program to your own teaching, design for learning or assessment and feedback practices.
