12:00 am
We invite you to join the Business School T&L Team for a professional development seminar on Interactive Oral Assessments (IOAs).
- Date and time: Monday 27 October, 12pm – 1:15pm
- Location: Online via Zoom (register to receive the link)
An interactive oral assessment is an unscripted verbal exchange between students and markers. It draws upon the students’ understanding of course concepts, allowing them to extend and synthesise their knowledge and skills within an authentic, industry-aligned scenario.
We’ll be joined by one of the pioneers of this form of assessment, Dani Logan-Fleming from Centre for Learning, Teaching and Scholarship at Torrens University and Adjunct Fellow for Learning and Teaching at Griffith University, to explore the thinking behind, and impact of, IOAs. Dani will share her experiences of developing IOAs across multiple disciplines, both qualitative- and quantitative-focused, and give insight into the scalability of IOAs, the cost of implementation, the logistics of running them, and the preparation needed to ensure both students & markers are ready for this form of assessment.
Open to all UTS Staff
Open to everyone engaged in teaching and learning from across UTS, this seminar will provide insight into this authentic, highly valid assessment style and provide guidance and inspiration for those of us developing future-focused, industry-aligned assessments.

You are very welcome to attend this seminar in a voluntary capacity. (Please note that voluntary attendance by casual staff is not eligible for payment.) If you would like your attendance to be paid as part of your entitlement of up to 10 hours of career development activities (UTS Staff Agreement 2021: 68.13), please contact your supervisor for approval.
