Setting up a Zoom meeting within Canvas has the advantage of recordings also being available within Canvas. However, there are some features to be aware of to make accessing those recordings as easy as possible for your students.
Recordings in Zoom LTI (Canvas) only show meetings scheduled via Canvas. To access all your recordings, go to the Zoom Web Portal and navigate to ‘Recordings and Transcripts’.
When accessing your recordings from Canvas, only the Zoom meeting recordings associated with the subject you are viewing will appear. These can be accessed by navigating to Zoom in your Canvas subject menu and selecting the ‘Cloud recordings’ tab. From here you can see all previous recordings from this subject.
If you want to see all recordings associated with your UTS Account, select ‘All My Zoom Meetings/Recordings’ (next to the blue ‘Schedule a New Meeting’ button).
Ensure your students can access Zoom recordings smoothly by enabling ‘single-click access’ in your Zoom account settings.
To avoid having multiple recordings display in Canvas, do this when setting up your meetings.
If you would like to have meetings automatically start recording, you should disable the option for students to ‘join before host’.
This setting can only be enabled for individual recordings and must be managed via zoom.uts.edu.au
To ensure more privacy in Zoom recordings you can configure settings via zoom.uts.edu.au:
Note: These settings apply to all meetings. If you need to retain chat transcripts or participant names for some recordings consider adjusting settings before each session.
