ParticipantI have a number of questions to clear up regarding the blog.
Is it 2 pages in length including any images and figures we include in the blog, or is it 2 pages of written content in length?
In regards to the references, you mentioned we submit that individually so I assume we won’t be needing to reference our blog content and we are meant to summarise journal articles it into simple language?
Is it suitable to use diagrams and figures provided by websites as long as we reference them appropriately, as some of the figures in journal articles are complex and I feel are not appropriate to put in a blog for people designed for people who have no idea about the topic?
My topic’s draft due date for feedback is 4th May, do I just email you the file for feedback or is there somewhere I need to upload it?Thank you in advance.

KeymasterThanks for posting these excellent questions Vicky.
The assignment should be 2 pages in total plus about half a page for references. So the 2 pages will include text and images. I’m guessing that it will end up being about one and a half pages of text but that depends on font size, layout etc.
In the blog you should use a numbering system for referencing. In science you need to support the claims you are making so by using in-text numbers it keeps it quite subtle.
The best figures are the ones you make yourself. If you do use others you need to reference them as well. It’s a bit sad when everyone uses the same figures/images that are either on the first page of a google search or taken straight off the lectures. Its good if students own the projects and do some good research.
Drafts will be posted on the website and visible to everyone for comment including the teaching staff. I’ll send an announcement around with the directions. If there is any similarities to other blogs the first one posted is the original. When it comes to the final version you need to put it through turnitin on UTS online (no need to do anymore as I can see them) and then you will submit on the website again where you will receive a mark and feedback that only the student who submitted can see.

ParticipantAre the draft and final version due on eg. 4th of May midnight, or is there another specific timing?
Thank you.

KeymasterHi Sandra,
A few topics have later submission dates as they relate to lectures delivered later in the session. For each topic the dates are given at the bottom. Submission for feedback is optional but recommended. You will be ‘marked up’ for providing thoughtful constructive feedback to your fellow students.
