Exams are coming up and can be a stressful time for staff and students. Come along and hear our UTS staff, Vivilia Widjaja (UTS Counselling Services Psychologist), Debra Kelly (UTS Buddhist Chaplin) and Joanna Thyer (UTS Multi-faith Chaplaincy Coordinator) present on this topic as a part of Mental Health Month for staff and students.

Vivilia Widjaja will discuss mindfulness and meditation from the psychological point of view and the research on spirituality and meditation and its psychological benefits for students and staff.

Debra Kelly will talk about mindfulness and meditation from the Buddhist point of view and how it can enhance mental and emotional wellbeing.

Joanna Thyer will speak about spirituality and meditation and how various religious faiths can support spirituality as all have meditation as part of their tradition. She will also stress how religion is not essential in order to meditate or experience spirituality and peace of mind.

Both Joanna and Debra’s talks will conclude with a brief meditation to demonstrate how meditation and mindfulness can enhance wellbeing and emotional and spiritual health. Viv will facilitate questions at the end.
