The FYE forum topic is It’s everyone’s business – developing new knowledge and skills for meaningful engagement with Indigenous Graduate Attributes from first year.
Every UTS student is expected to develop Indigenous Professional Capability – the capability to engage with and work respectfully with Indigenous people and communities – as part of our Indigenous Graduate Attribute priority. Learning and teaching for Indigenous Professional Capability can be both rewarding and challenging for students and staff.
Details
The forum will look at first year student pedagogy for developing Indigenous graduate attributes, current examples of practices that have embedded Indigenous Graduate Attributes into the first year and later year curriculum, and teaching and learning practices that foster safe learning environments for all students.
Presentations and activities from Susan Page (FASS), Tamara Power (Health) and Deborah Szapiro (DAB). Given the success of the student panel from the last forum, we will hear from students from Jumbunna on their learning experiences in class, and within Jumbunna. Brenton James (Jumbunna) will lead this panel.
Whilst the FYE forum is designed for those who work with students in first year of their university experience or are part of the university infrastructure concerned with student transition, we welcome academics, professional staff and students. Please come along, but you need to RSVP.
RSVP : Kathy.Egea@uts.edu.au until Friday 6th of July 4pm. After this time, please RSVP to Enza.Mirabella@uts.edu.au
