Would you like to apply for a teaching award or promotion?

Are you wondering how to make your case?

In this second Zoom session (series of 5 workshops) you will focus on:

  •        Practising your 1-minute pitch to a group of colleagues
  •        Gain feedback from colleagues and learn from their stories

Pre-work for this workshop

Before this session, please prepare a draft 1-minute pitch of your claim and bring it to this workshop.

Imagine you’re introduced to the Chair of the promotion or awards panel at an event.  They ask about your teaching (and they don’t know that you’re an applicant).  You have one minute to create a good impression.

or

It’s the Learning and Teaching awards showcase and you’ve won an award.  You have one minute to tell everyone why.

Find relevant guidelines first to help shape your pitch.

For promotion, go to Staff Connect and search for Academic Promotion. You’ll find good info about evidence for making your claims in the Guidelines for Writing a Case for Promotion (login to Staff Connect first).

For UTS teaching and learning awards and citations, you’ll find info on the UTS learning and teaching awards and citations site (2019 guidelines give a good indication of what the 2020 version will be like).
