First go at creating a ‘Research Plumb Line’:
Area of Curiosity: The representation of women in documentary film
Mission Question: What informs and what needs to be changed regarding the way stories about women are represented in documentary film?
Data Collected: Case studies on documentary films about women. In particular, documentaries that focus on the downfall of a great woman rather than her genius and legacy.
Data Analysis: Methods to determine how to meaningfully locate what the ‘focus’ is in documentary.

Elements I will need to keep ‘plumb’ in my research are aligning data collected and the mission question. Remembering they need to keep speaking back and to each other. Creating a meaningful conversation that enriches and gives focus to the research.
