I agree with your confusion! I’m not at all convinced member checking has such miraculous powers, and am certainly of the view that there are many instances when it is not appropriate.

I love how you are making connections (through your I of ACID) to your own context.

And I totally agree with your disagree! Many qual researchers would not (ie. they agree with Shenton), but I would think of many examples, including in my own studies, where richer, deeper, more extended data of one kind was ‘better’ than overlapping data of different kinds or from different people. But I’ve been involved in work where overlapping methods really did help, too…
