Hi Ian
Thanks for your posts. I love how you’re describing being dragged out of plumb: perhaps part of that is a good thing – showing you’re attuning and listening to the world, but then have the capacity to stand back and realise if it is taking you off track, or if it was your track that was off, and you need to reset so these new interesting things are in fact plumb! (Does that make any sense at all?!)

In terms of your ACID – I agree about triangulation: works for ship navigation, but in the human world can be rather unrealistic as you so eloquently describe.

I agree totally with your confusion about messiness: all I ‘know’ is that avoiding messiness or denying it are problematic… how to work productively with it is still an open question!

‘Oh yeah that’s good’ – if only there were more of those moments when reading! But yes the distinction between findings being the same vs of interest to others is a useful one I think.

I am fascinated by your writing about what was absence in Shenton – the world view piece. I agree (and yes I still am of the view that rampant reflexivity is generally to be avoided: a more purposeful approach is important).
